These Are a Few of Our Favorite Things

One of my favorite things to do over Christmas vacation was play golf on the golf course that is directly behind Oma and Papa’s house.  Their house backs up to a 500-yard par 5 hole on a private golf course.  Given the fact that it costs about $100 to play 18 holes on this golf course, I figured I could get arrested and post bail for roughly the same amount.  Over the past three years, I have played more than enough holes to get my money’s worth.  This year we bought Dylan some starter golf clubs for Christmas.  Here is a short video of us on the links:

Speaking of videos, Brady had been watching his 9-month-old cousin start to walk and crawl around all week while on Christmas break.  Here is a short video of his response to all of the action (with the help of his Oma).

This past week, we’ve had a really hard time adjusting to the jet lag since coming back to Germany.  Nevertheless, we had plenty of fun around the house.  Here is a funny picture of Dylan’s train set (Mommy helped configure this).  It ended up looking like something that was not intended. Yes, we are that immature to think this was hilarious.

Finally, here is a video of Dylan playing guitar to our favorite song of the week by our friends AG Silver (seriously, I grew up with three of the band members). Number two is Gangnam Style by Psy and Number Three on the Foltice Family song charts is ‘Take it All’ by Hillsong United (previously at number one for most of 2012).   Although in Dylan's version of 'Take It All' he sings "Take, take, take it off, Jesus!" Here is a one minute video of Dylan “Jamming” to AG Silvers new video –When the Sun Goes Down.

Happy (Belated) New Year from the Foltice Family

It has been quite a 2012.  Despite a frustrating move to Münster in May and a difficult pregnancy for Dana, we were blessed with a great year, including the addition of our new linebacker, Brady.

We spent Christmas in Maryland, and have somehow lived to tell about our travels to and from.  My blood pressure rises even at the thought of traveling with our two kids, but they were great.   We spent about 10 days in America, enough time for everyone to get on a good sleep schedule right before leaving.

Needless to say, it was great spending time with family and eating so much that we hated ourselves.  *This was stolen from a Louis CK comedy bit, but was still useful when I said, ‘I was full 10 minutes ago.  Now I have eaten so much that I hate myself.’  It didn’t help that they had an accessible scale to weigh myself.  Why do I torture myself like this?  With no basketball this season, it is a slippery slope.

Anyways, after living in Germany for over two years and feeling pretty comfortable with day-to-day life in Europe, it was actually a culture shock to visit America! I hope to expound on this in a later post, but it was really strange feeling that both Dana and I felt.

We made in back to Germany Sunday afternoon (Dec. 30th) after an overnight flight.  On New Year’s Eve, Dana and I actually stayed awake past midnight (the first time in a few years.)  Our jet lag actually helped us witness the best fireworks display we have ever seen from our balcony.

I am back to work as of today (Wednesday) and Dylan goes back to kindergarten next Monday.  We are really excited about what 2013 has in store for us.   We hope you have a great New Year.

Making a resolution to write more blog posts in the New Year,

Dylan's "big ticket" item this year were some big boy golf clubs.  Note - he's 3.5, but these clubs are sized for a 6-7 year old.  Yeah, he's huge.
